Oh the joys of cantaloupe

How many of you like eating cantaloupe but hate cutting it up? Well I'm right there with you. We enjoy eating lots of different types of fruits and veggies in this house but melon is by far not the funnest to cut but funnest to eat lol...  I always feel like when I cut cantaloupe, that I seem to waste a lot of it so today I decided to cut in a different way.
What I did was I cut a little bit off of each end so that way when I cut it, it would lay on the counter flat. Then once I cut in the center, I laid each piece flat and started cutting the rind. I could then stay as close to the meat as possible so in return, I wouldn't waste too much. This cutting technique worked for me but I would much rather have some sort of slicer.
I wonder too if there is a magical way that you can store it and it last forever? I try to keep it stored in a plastic container of some sort and not sure how long it's supposed to last but it seems to last for a good amount of time like that. I would prefer it last a month but I know that's probably unrealistic.
Well that's my little rant of the day! Happy Cantaloupe Eating!

  1. I love cantaloupe! I cut min fight down the middle and scoop the seeds out. Then I lay the flat side down and cut each half into 4 slices I call "moons". Then I cut the rind off each piece.. one knife slice along the outline of the melon will take the rind right off! And the pour some salt on it and eat! HAHA.. by the way, you can freeze cantaloupe if you want it to last longer.. just sprinkle with a little sugar and put it in a freezer bag. When you are ready to enjoy, take some out the night before and thaw in the fridge. or eat frozen.. I love ripe frozen melon!
